The Tigers will hope their two youngsters get some valuable minutes in the next few weeks
Hull City have made key transfer decisions over two youngsters as the Championship club look to give them valuable experience of playing regular football.
Billy Chadwick’s loan spell at Boston United has been extended by a further month having joined the Lincolnshire club on January 5, while Jake Leake has arrived at Scunthorpe United.
Leake will spend the next three months on loan at Glanford Park and joins the Iron amid a flurry of new signings after the club’s transfer embargo was lifted this week following their takeover.
Twenty-three-year-old Chadwick has made two appearances for the Pilgrims since moving at the beginning of January. Both those outings have come as starts in successive 2-2 draws at home against Gloucester City and Scarborough Athletic.
The Hull-born forward bagged a goal on his debut with a terrific solo effort, but Boston are struggling at the wrong end of the National League North table and sit two points adrift of safety with 18 games left.
Leake, meanwhile, will hope to make his debut for Scunthorpe on Friday night in a crucial National League game against Barnet at Glanford Park.
The Iron are five points adrift of safety after a disastrous season following relegation from League Two. “(I am) really happy to get it done,’’ the City youngster told Iron Player. “It’s been something that I’ve wanted to do, as I know there has been interest for quite a while now. I am just glad to get it over the line.
“I joined Hull City at Under-12s. I have been on loan last year at Boston United which I hope stands me up really well. Hopefully, I can come here and do the same again.”
