Molly Mangan’s Paddy’s Week

“Hull’s biggest-ever St Patrick’s party”: Molly Mangan’s goes all out for nine-day Paddy’s Week as venue celebrates huge impact on Newland Avenue

Newland Avenue is going green for nine days straight – and the team behind Molly Mangan’s say it could be Hull’s biggest St Patrick’s celebration yet.

Hull’s newest Irish bar is staging a nine-day Paddy’s Week party from Friday March 13 to Saturday March 21, with live music every single day, interactive events, late-night after-parties and a special sing-around session.

The celebrations come after what owners describe as an “amazing” first few months, with the venue quickly becoming a live music hub drawing crowds from across the region.

Since opening in December, Molly Mangan’s has seen visitors travel from across Yorkshire, while musicians have come from Scarborough, Manchester and London to perform.

“We’ve been blown away by the support,” said owner Jack Mangan. “The demand for live music has been incredibly consistent, and we’ve managed to mix younger and older crowds together in a way that feels really special.”

Free entry – seven nights a week

Unlike many late-night venues, Molly Mangan’s has committed to staying free entry, seven days a week.

“We make sure we’re welcoming and accessible to everyone,” Jack said. “Live music should be something everyone can enjoy.”

Part of a growing Newland Avenue scene

While The Adelphi remains Hull’s flagship for original music, Molly Mangan’s says it offers something different, leaning into traditional Irish music, folk, crowd favourites and big singalong nights.

The venue also sits among a growing mix of bars on Newland Avenue, including the brand-new Spati Bar, known for its German beers, Roots, bringing Jamaican flavours to the strip and Mr Moody’s Tavern with its international food pop-ups – creating what entertainment manager Danilo Swire described as “a world map in one road”.

Danilo’s personal top picks? Ellie Pollard, Will Dooley and Hillbilly Troupe.

A thank-you to Hull

As a thank-you for the support, the bar recently sent two customers to Dublin, complete with a hotel stay and a Guinness Storehouse tour – and another Dublin trip giveaway is planned as part of the Paddy’s Week celebrations.

“We want people to feel that traditional Irish atmosphere but with the modern buzz of live music all week,” Danilo said.

“We genuinely think this could be Hull’s biggest St Patrick’s party ever – and it runs for nine days,” added Jack.

Watch this space…

And it may not stop there.

The team behind Molly Mangan’s have hinted at an exciting new venture planned for Hull city centre later this spring. The new bar, set to be called Paddy Mangan’s, will bring the brand’s signature Irish atmosphere into the heart of the city. Closer to home, they are also transforming their upstairs space into a themed venue set to open in time for the World Cup, promising a big-match atmosphere before evolving into a hub for special events and live entertainment throughout the year.
